Learn moreAbout the firm
Harlan & Reese was built on a straightforward premise: people deserve an attorney who tells them the truth, returns their calls, and never charges for confusion.
The attorneys
Every client at Harlan & Reese works directly with their attorney — not a rotating cast of associates. You'll know exactly who's in your corner.
Founding Partner
J.D., Penn State Dickinson Law · Member, PA Bar · 25+ years
Robert founded the firm in 2004 after a decade with a regional litigation practice. He leads the firm's family law and personal injury work, and is known for giving clients clear, candid guidance when the stakes are highest.
Founding Partner
J.D., Temple University Beasley School of Law · Member, PA Bar · 22+ years
Catherine built the firm's estate planning and real estate practice from the ground up. She has a particular gift for translating dense legal language into plain English, and for making clients feel prepared rather than overwhelmed.
Associate Attorney
J.D., Widener University Commonwealth Law · Member, PA Bar · 6 years
Daniel handles a wide range of family law and contract matters. He joined Harlan & Reese in 2019 and has become a trusted voice for clients navigating divorce, custody, and small-business agreements.
Senior Paralegal
ABA-Approved Paralegal Certificate · 14 years with the firm
Margaret has been with Harlan & Reese nearly since the beginning. She manages case files, coordinates closings, and is often the first person clients hear from — her calm, organized approach sets the tone for every matter.
Client words
“Catherine guided us through our estate planning with such patience. We left the office understanding every document and feeling genuinely at ease. That's not easy to do.”
“Robert handled my car accident case and settled for more than I thought possible. He was honest with me the whole way through and never made me feel like just a file number.”
“Went through a difficult divorce. Daniel was thorough, responsive, and kept me focused on what mattered — my kids. I can't recommend this firm enough.”
Before you call
Yes. We offer a complimentary 30-minute consultation for most matters so you can share the situation, ask questions, and decide whether we're the right fit — with no obligation.
It depends on the matter. Estate planning and straightforward real estate closings are typically flat-fee, so you know the cost upfront. Family law and litigation work is generally billed hourly, and we'll give you a clear estimate at the outset. We accept credit cards and offer payment plans when circumstances call for it.
Bring whatever feels relevant — any documents you've received (court papers, deeds, wills, contracts), a list of questions, and a general sense of what outcome you're hoping for. Don't worry if things are disorganized; part of our job is helping you sort through what matters.
Our office is in Carlisle, and we serve clients throughout Cumberland County and the surrounding region — including Mechanicsburg, Shippensburg, Newville, Camp Hill, and Boiling Springs. Many of our real estate and estate matters extend into Perry and Franklin counties as well.
Start with a free 30-minute consultation. Tell us what's going on and we'll give you a straight answer about how we can help — no pressure, no obligation.
